Timeline for the Flame Challenge

 
Dec. 11: Flame Challenge question is announced – the contest begins.

Dec. 11 – March 1: Scientists answer the Flame Challenge question.
Entries will be accepted from Dec. 11, 2012 through 11:59 pm March 1, 2013 (New York time).

Feb. 1 – Last date for schools to register if they want to be sure they can
participate.
A school may be able to join later, but there is no guarantee.

Feb. 11–April 16: Students judge the answers.
After screening by scientists, entries will be emailed to judging schools in batches.

April 30-Voting on the Finalists begins.
The Finalist entries will be posted on our Flame Challenge page. Students in judging
schools will vote through their classes.

April 30-Students discuss the entries at the Worldwide Assembly.
Up to 10 judging schools will participate in this video conference.

May 5–Voting on the Finalists ends.

June 2–Flame Challenge winners announced!
