Timeline for the 2015 Flame Challenge


Oct. 17, 2014: Last day to submit questions for this year’s Flame Challenge

Nov. 7, 2014: Last day to vote on this year’s Flame Challenge question

December 2, 2014: The 2015 Flame Challenge question is announced!

Dec. 2014-Feb. 13, 2015: Scientists answer the Flame Challenge question

Feb. 13, 2015: Last day for Scientists to submit answers

March 20, 2015: Last day for schools to register for The Flame Challenge
-Schools may join after this date, but there is no guarantee.


Mid February-mid April: Students judge the answers
-After screening by scientists, entries will be emailed to schools in batches

Late April: Voting on finalists begins
-Finalists will be posted on our Flame Challenge page. Students in judging schools will vote through their classes

April 28, 2015: Students discuss entries at the Worldwide Assembly
-Up to 10 judging schools will participate in this video-conference

Early May: Voting on finalists ends

Early June: Flame Challenge winners announced at the World Science Festival
